I had an older woman come in to the shop a couple of years ago who had a hole in her neck. She had been smoking her entire life, she got throat cancer, and ended up having to get a tracheotomy. She was still smoking cigarettes. She had to cover the hole in her neck with one hand and hold the cigarette to her mouth with the other in order to smoke. The point being that she was so hopelessly addicted to smoking that even after getting cancer, going through chemo, having part of her neck cut out, and surviving the whole ordeal, she still didn’t have the motivation and willpower to just quit.
She had also tried all of the various smoking cessation products available, and nothing seemed to help at all. Finally, desperate for a way to kick her habit and with little hope of actually being able to do so, she found herself in an e-cig shop with me behind the counter. Back then, the most advanced atomizer on the market was the Joyetech eGo-T, the one with the plastic cartridges that you’d fill up and insert back into the cone-shaped atomizer. The point being that this was a while ago, and the technology was still in its infancy. E-Cig performance was quite modest in terms of vapor production and battery capacity, not to mention the chronic leaking problems that plagued all e-cigs back then. After trying out one of the testers, this was the type of e-cig that she bought. I explained how to use it, how to clear it out when it leaks, and set her up with a bottle of Tobacco 24mg. She needed the strong stuff.
When she came back into the shop a week later, she was a completely different woman. Of course she still had the hole in her neck, but she also seemed to have more life in her. When I saw her the first time, she looked like a dying woman; weak, frail, hole in the neck, depressed, defeated, just waiting for the cigarettes to finish the job. When I saw her the second time, she had a huge smile on her face, there was a spring to her step and a twinkle in her eyes. She had been given a new lease on life. She was so grateful to finally find something that worked for her after trying and failing so many times to quit smoking in the past. She bought herself some more liquid and spare parts, thanked me again for helping her make the switch, and went on with her life. She became a regular customer after that, and gave me constant updates on how much better she was feeling, both physically and psychologically, whenever she came in.
I feel privileged to be able to sell a product that substantially (and in this instance, enormously) improves the quality of life for those who buy it. Over the years, I’ve had many customers in similar situations, although this is probably the most extreme example of someone whose life was completely turned around by e-cigs. Seeing a person come in, buy an e-cig, and come back noticeably happier and grateful for the product is an extremely gratifying experience. I get to have these experiences on a regular basis.
So what are you waiting for? Come on in and talk to me about improving the overall quality of your life. If this woman can do it, anybody can.
