What Is The VITA?
The VITA, or Vape Industry Trade Association is a Non-Profit Trade Association that represents and supports the Canadian Vape Industry. VITA will professionally advocate for harm reduction, youth prevention, evidence-based regulations, best in class quality and safety standards. VITA is committed to working with members to advance issues of importance for the entire industry. The VITA will take on some of the functions of the now dissolved Electronic Cigarette Trade Association (ECTA).
VITA Goals
As Canada’s largest trade association representing the industry’s manufacturers, importers, distributors and retailers, VITA is committed to working with stakeholders and governments to set and uphold regulations for vaping products in Canada. VITA’s approach is based on credible evidence, science, facts, and logic. In their efforts to responsibly grow and defend the category, the Association commits to collaborating with regulatory bodies to identify best practices and to inform the development of evidenced-based regulations.
VITA Label Standards
e-Liquid is regulated under the Tobacco and Vaping Products Act (TVPA), the Canadian consumer products safety act (CCPSA), and the Vaping Products Labelling and Packaging Regulations (VPLPR).
These Regulations set out two parts of requirements: labelling requirements pursuant to the TVPA; and labelling requirements, child-resistant container requirements and a maximum nicotine concentration limit pursuant to the CCPSA.
The VITA stamp is only given to participating businesses who display that they are legally compliant and that their products adhere to the specific level of excellence customers can trust.
